Absecon Station Site

Station closed in 1922 and turned over to GSA in 1955. Transferred to the United Cerebral Palsy Association in 1957. 1896 station house survives and is owned by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is used as the Children’s Seashore House.

Station still active. 1913 station house survives and is leased from the General Services Administration and shared with other federal agencies.


Amagansett Station Site

East Hampton, NY

Station closed in 1936 and site transferred to the Navy for use as a radio direction finder station. Site owned by the Town of East Hampton. 1880 station house survives but was moved off in 1902 site and is now a retail store. 1903 station house was sold for a private residence and moved off site. In 2007 the station house was bought by the Town of East Hampton and moved back to its original site. It will be restored as a museum.

Station still active. 1976 station house survives. 1879 station house destroyed by a hurricane in 1919. 1925? station house may have been torn down in 1976.


Arena Cove Station Site

Station closed in 1952 and turned over to the Navy in 1958. 1902 station house survives and is now the Coast Guard House Historic Inn.


Ashtabula Station Site

Station closed in 1938 at this site and moved to a new location. 1983 station house does not survive, but keeper’s cottage does survive and has been moved to a new site.


Assateague Beach Station Site

Assateague Island?, VA

Station closed in 1922 at this site and moved to another location. Station site turned over to GSA in 1965 and transferred to the Fish and Wildlife Service in 1966 as part of Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Station house does not survive. Station house was dismantled in 1950 and some of the lumber was used to build cottages on Piney Island in Chincoteague.

Station closed in 1967 at this site and replaced by Station Chincoteague. Turned over to GSA in 1956 and transferred to the Fish and Wildlife Service. 1922 station house survives and is part of Assateague Island National Seashore.

Station closed in 1972 at this site and moved to a new location. 1909-1910 station house destroyed by a storm in October 1913. 1914 station house was torn down in the early 1970s after the station moved.

Station closed in 1933 and abandoned in 1948. 1895 station house was torn down. Lumber from the station house was used to construct cottages behind the Bailey’s Harbor Yacht Club Resort that was built on the station site.
