Life-Saving in Northern Michigan

Mackinaw City, Michigan – September 26 – 28, 2013

From September 26 – 28, 2013, the U.S. Life-Saving Service Heritage Association is headed to northern Lake Huron and the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan for its 17th annual conference. All members of the association and those interested in the history of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and the U.S. Coast Guard are invited to attend. You don’t need to be a member! We will be based out of Mackinaw City, Michigan for 2013. Payment information is located at the bottom of this page for those who wish to use PayPal.

Wednesday, September 25
Afternoon Board of Directors meeting at the Best Western PLUS Dockside Waterfront Inn.

Thursday, September 26
Bus tour to Hammond Bay Biological Station; Alpena Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center; and Great Lakes Lore Museum. Lunch provided.

Friday, September 27
Early rise and departure for a bus tour to Bois Blanc Island departing 7:30AM SHARP to get to ferry (Bagels and juice will be provided for the bus ride); possible NEW USCG Ice Breaker Mackinaw tour (if in port) and former USCG Ice Breaker Mackinaw tour. Lunch provided.

Saturday, September 28
Bus tour to Valley Camp Ship Museum; Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point; USLSSHA Membership meeting at Whitefish Point. Lunch provided.

Optional – Annual dinner evening and raffle.

Sunday, September 29
Tour the area on your own or return home.
