Station closed in 1998?. Station house survives and is the UTB/TSC Coastal and Environmental Studies Field Station at Port Mansfield, an annex of the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. Station may have been only an Aid to Navigation station, not a lifeboat station.

Station house contains laboratories and classrooms.
