Coquille River Station Site

The Coquille River Station Site site was established in 1971 (at this site, 1891 at original site)
Station closed in 1971. 1891 house burned down in a fire that destroyed most of the buildings in Bandon on September 26, 1936. 1939 station house survives and is the headquarters for the Port of Bandon.
Station Site Notes:
1890 under contract or construction; 1891 completed and put into operation (USLSS Annual Reports). Station built in 1890; Coast Guard Station Coquille River is located on the south side of Coquille River. The main station building was erected in 1939 and commissioned in 1940. The Coast Guard has been in Bandon since the erection of the Coquille River Light Station in 1895. The Lifeboat Station was converted from year-round to seasonal in 1972; it was manned from April through October (USCG Historian's Website).
