The Gilgo Station Site site was established in 1850
Station closed in 1917. No station buildings survive at this site.
Station Site Notes:
1878 repaired; 1886 contracts entered for repairs and enlargements; 1888 extensive repairs and enlargements made; 1917 station discontinued, to become auxiliary to one or the other active adjacent stations (USLSS Annual Reports). After 1917, the station disappears completely from the records. It was one of nine discontinued at the outbreak of World War I (USCG Historian's Website).
