Island Beach Station Site

The Island Beach Station Site site was established in 1848
Station closed in 1937 and abandoned in 1946. In 1952 it was acquired by the New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection for use as Island Beach State Park. 1898 station house survives at this site and is a maintenance center for the park.
Station Site Notes:
1878 repaired; 1898 new station being erected in place of old and inadequate one; 1899 rebuilt (USLSS Annual Reports). New site was again acquired in 1885; abandoned in 1946 (USCG Historian's Website).
