The White Head Station Site site was established in 1874
Station closed in 1954 and turned over to GSA in 1956. Replaced by Station Rockland. 1874 and 1922 station houses survive at this site and are privately owned.
Station Site Notes:
1873 contracts for construction made; 1874 erected; 1889 repairs and improvements; 1890 minor repairs and improvements; 1921 contracts awarded for construction of dwelling and accessories; 1922 work completed(?) (at 22 stations) (USLSS Annual Reports). First keeper appointed 10/16/1874; 1956 turned over to GSA (USCG Historian's Website). 1956 crew and boats relocated to Rockland Moorings at Tilson's Wharf and occupied buildings formerly used by the Navy and CG during WW II that ultimately became CG Station Rockland (David Gamage).
